Family Photo

We all went to Schwetzingen Gardens to enjoy a Saturday afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny day and we didn't have big plans to go out of town, so we tried a local venue. We walked around for about 3 hours enjoying the flowers, statues, and a short stop at the schloss (translation: castle) cafe. I had tea and orange torte while William enjoyed a German beer. There were a few locals, some Lord Mayors in their full official attire, a wedding party, and a few tourists. They are having some sort of festival there, but since we don't speak fluent German it is very hard to translate what is going on. At least we have some success on being in the right place at the right time to enjoy a few special events! :-)

Wedding Blessing & Reception!!!

...better late than never :-)

Who? Everyone who is anyone
What? Wedding Blessing (because we have already said our vows) and Reception
When? June 23rd, 2007 @ 1830 - until?
Where? Gulf Shores, AL *Email me for specifics*
Why? To celebrate the marriage of William & Lora Leigh

We would really love to see all of our friends and family this summer and have a formal Catholic wedding blessing and reception. Obviously we are running a bit behind on planning all this, but that is just how it goes with an active duty husband and reservist wife. Let's hope they don't come after me so quickly that I can't make this one! :-)

Pisa

This past week I went on a work trip to Pisa, Italy. I helped support a conference in the local area. It was a lot of traveling (and not in business class, get real...)and a few days with longer hours, but I did get the privilege to enjoy touring the Leaning Tower of Pisa area! It was absolutely beautiful and historically amazing! I stayed in a hotel that was right on the beach, but this is their low season for tourism and I got a very affordable government rate. For some reason they have sprinklers right next to the water on that beach right now. I have no idea why, but can only guess 1 or 2 things. 1 -- they are watering the sand to prevent wind erosion or 2 -- there is a recent planting of sea oats and they are being watered in order for optimum growth for peak season. Strangely, while we were there the local gas stations had a gas strike. If I had driven it would have been trouble, but my transportation was taken care of. And on the last night I was there the hotel's electricity went out! They had a back-up generator for their reception area and hotel hallways, but my room lights stayed out until maybe 3 in the morning! William and Snitzel took care of each other while I was away, but we did get to speak every day that I was gone. Well I enjoyed my trip, but it is good to be back home with my hubby and my Mr. Snitzel!

Looking for a good book.

I am looking for a good book. I enjoy girly fiction books. Not so much the trashy romance novels, but more of a book about a girl or 20 something person. I prefer it to be happy or possibly the story of that person going through life (life challenges? life situations?) and overall coming out happier, healthier, a person whom she loves and respect and feels comfortable in their own skin, who is happy with what they have and where they are and is optimistic about the future. That's what I need. Now...given that information, if you know of any preferably paperback books I would like for you to share your suggestions with me. I need a new book to read and enjoy. *My English majors and librarian friends -- "I'm counting on YOU!".*

Tis The Season...

Just Saturday William and I mailed all of the Christmas cards and all the gifts for the family! I made the cheesy photo Christmas cards on Kodak and they turned out nicely. They arrived here in a timely manner too. We also made a few Christmas postcard for a few more friends and family as the other ones ran out way too soon. Work has been a party several days this past week. My reserve unit had a party one Sunday and my full-time job had a holiday party this past Friday. We had nice dinners and got to know some of our co-worker by chatting, singing holiday songs, getting door prizes, and exchanging gifts. It was fun. Well, I enjoy those type of things. We also have a real live blue spruce tree! We don't have our belongings yet, but I bought some lights and an angel. We borrowed some un-used balls and garland from the neighbors to decorate with. It looks nice for our first Christmas :-) So what does your tree look like?
