In Heidelberg
I am in Heidelberg! I managed to dodge all the flight fiascos (no liquids, no gels) and cruise from the US of A to my new home in Germany. I caught a bus to Heidelberg and then a taxi to my house. I was pleased that most everything is in working order, although it was covered with around a year's worth of dust. Needless to say, I've done more scrubbing in this past week than I have in the past year! I have plentiful wireless internet and my new neighbors have even suggested I borrow their 27" tv until I get things of my own. I have bare minimum, but I think it is still more than I had been living with for the past year during deployment. I have a stove that works, 1 cooking pot, a coffee pot, 2 saucers and cups (in a very nice royal blue), and a fantastic (crystal) vase full of flowers! That about sums up my belongings :-) The house does have (military issues) furniture so I'm not sitting on the floors unless I want to. On day 2 I went ahead and bought a month bus/rail pass so that I can travel at leasure and not worry about paying a fine if I get lost or something b/c it is all taken care of for a month. So I am planning a trip within the week to my very favorite store in all the world -- Zara. Google it online if you get a chance. I would wear practically everything in that store! There are a few within an hour drive/ride from here! YEAH! Well, I've got to wash some clothes and take out the trash (ewww). I'll try to post pictures soon.
