Proud To Be an American

There are several organizations that send "Letters from Home" to deployed soldiers. Our group got some today and they are just precious. Kids or veterans or those who have loved and/or lost someone in the military write these letters.

Check out a few of their sites:

Letters From Home

I'll give you a taste of one of the letters:
Dear soldiers,
How are you guys doing out there? Is it cold or hot where you guys are at? What kind of food do you guys eat? Do you guys take showers? ... We appreciate what you guys have done for our country too and are proud of you guys. I always wanted to be in the Army and Marine. ... What do you guys use to go to the bathroom? Do you guys go in the woods or what? (just wondering)
Sincerely,
Sarah*

Isn't that the funniest thing you've ever heard? Just for the record I only "go" in the woods when I have to. :P

We have trailers (one for males, one for females) with regular single stall showers in them. They have hot and not very cold water complete with shower curtains. We have chances to take showers in the morning and evening and after guard duty if we want.

As for toilets...their sewer system isn't very good so you can't throw toilet paper in their toilets. We have toilets in a trailer (similar to the showers) with our plumbing in it so we can flush it there. When you are in between work and our sleeping area (aka PAD) you might have to use a porto-potty.

I shower at least once a day, and usually only have to use the porto-potty one in three days.
