The Secret Life of Bees

I have been reading "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. It is an interesting fiction set in 1960s South Carolina. There is an interesting mix
of racial issues along with family trials and tribulations. I can't really relate to any of it, but it is a 13 year old girl's personal story which seems to be making her too old too quick. I am 100 plus pages through due to her personable nature and how she seems to be searching for answers to life questions, along with the eccentric bee keepers that have embraced her and her nanny during troubled times. Scene

1-what do you see?
2-what does it remind you of?
3-if you were here, who would be with you?
4-what song do you hear playing in the background?

My Husband, My Hero

Through it all William has said he will do whatever it takes to be with me. So the military started out as a single person venture, but has lead to the current family career. He joined so that he would be able to chase me around the world so I wouldn't have to do this alone. It was a long shot that we would be able to see each other during deployment, but he did it! This past weekend we spent 3 days together! In Iraq! How unbelievable is that!?!?!? My husband is my hero!

ZZZZZzzzzz.....

ZZZZZzzzzz..... is all you would have heard from me for 10 hours this morning! I am so happy to report that I got a very good night's (and half the morning) sleep :) You know if I get just one morning to sleep in the rest of the week seems better. My Fridays are like your Saturdays. This is because in Iraq their slow day is Friday. Hardly any of our local national workers come to work on Fridays. Which day do you sleep in?

In an effort to prepare for a possible visit I also painted my toe nails Red! And I redid my nail with the color that you use when you are getting a french manicure, except minus the french stuff. Our regulations state a "natural" color nail polish only. At times we try to get away with it, but I've started to just do whatever with my toes and following more strict rules with my nails. Do you have rules like this at your work?

My hair is finally getting long enough to pull back! This is good and bad. Good b/c it is getting long; Bad b/c now I have to take extra time to make it look perfect. It isn't long enough to put in a bun, but ideally that is the style it should be while in uniform. How are you wearing your hair these days?

Have a Happy Friday :)
